A kitesurf holiday in Hurghada is easy to organise: direct flights, short transfers and a kite spot that works for every level. A little planning still goes a long way, though. This practical guide covers getting there, where to stay, getting around and how to make the most of your week on the water.
Getting to Hurghada
Hurghada International Airport (HRG) has direct and charter flights from many European cities, including several from the UK, as well as connections via Cairo. Many nationalities can get a visa on arrival or an e-visa – always check the latest rules for your passport before you travel. If you are flying with kite gear, check your airline’s sports equipment allowance in advance; many riders choose to hire equipment locally instead.
Where to stay
For a kitesurfing holiday, location beats luxury. Staying close to the spot means you can react quickly when the wind picks up and pop back for lunch or a rest. Our kite station is at Palma Resort, on the lagoon between Hurghada and El Gouna, and the AMC Royal and Hawaii hotels are both close by. If you prefer more nightlife and restaurants, central Hurghada or El Gouna are short drives away.
When choosing accommodation, consider:
- Distance to the kite spot.
- Somewhere to rinse and dry your gear, or easy access to kite storage at the beach.
- Air conditioning and a shady place to relax.
- Whether meals are included, especially if you plan full days on the water.
Getting around
- Go-Bus: the bus between Hurghada and El Gouna can drop you close to Palma Resort.
- Taxi: easy to find in Hurghada; agree the fare before you set off if there is no meter.
- Car: if you are driving, you can use the hotel car park near our station.
Our location page has directions and a map.
Planning your kitesurf holiday in Hurghada around the wind
The wind blows on around 270 days a year in Hurghada, but it still varies from day to day. Check our live Hurghada wind forecast every morning: it shows the current wind, gusts and direction from the station close to our spot, the last three hours and a multi-day forecast. Plan lessons and long sessions for the windiest days, and keep calmer days for snorkelling, a desert trip or simply resting.
