Kite Safari
Egypt is a place almost everyone dreams of visiting – and what better way to explore it than with your kite? A kite safari takes you to the wild side of the Red Sea: mesmerising blue water, untouched islands and wide-open landscapes. With strong, reliable wind, sunshine all year round and warm water, a Red Sea kite safari is one of the best kitesurfing trips in the world.
The Kite Safari Boat
Our kite safari runs on a four-star motor yacht with four decks and space for 16 to 24 guests. The main deck, at sea level, has the dining room and superior cabins, each with a double bed and a sea view. Standard cabins with two single beds are on the lower deck; each has a wardrobe and air conditioning, and there is a separate shower and toilet. The upper deck has the bridge, the captain’s cabin, a large saloon with an LCD screen and sound system, and a lounge with sofas, a bar and a canopy for shade. The top “sun” deck is lined with sunbeds and has a small plunge pool with a jacuzzi. Two Zodiac-style rescue boats travel with the yacht.
The crew are friendly and unassuming, and a professional chef prepares delicious, varied meals throughout the trip, so life on board is comfortable and carefree.
Our Kite Safari Spots
Our favourite kite safari spots are Tawila and Geisum, north of Hurghada in the open sea. Because they lie well away from the coast, the wind there is usually strong and steady, and the flat terrain means nothing breaks up the airflow.
In March and April the wind often blows hard, even on small kites; a long 5 mm wetsuit is best early in spring, while 3 mm is usually enough by April. In May you can often ride in board shorts or a lycra, especially in lighter or southerly winds. In September and October the wind is strong and even, ideal for small and medium kites. From October to November a shorty is a must, and a long 3 mm wetsuit works well too.
Around the islands, especially on the leeward side, you will find lagoons of different sizes and depths. Sandbanks on the leeward shore keep the water smooth and free of chop. With an average depth of around one metre and no coral, these lagoons are perfect for training.
A Day on Our Kite Safari
We leave Hurghada marina early in the morning and reach the Red Sea islands in about three hours. There we go ashore, set up the equipment and start riding. We kitesurf from dawn until sunset, stopping only for meals – but you do not have to keep up that pace! You can start after breakfast or take a break after lunch. We take photos and film videos during the sessions.
After dinner we get together in the mess room to review the footage, talk through mistakes (and celebrate great progress!) and give advanced riders tips on their technique. The rest of the evening is for watching videos, looking through photos, board games, yoga and the odd party!

What to bring:
- Long-sleeved lycra and board shorts
- Neoprene boots (essential) and gloves (recommended)

- A USB stick or SD card for your photos and videos

Terms and conditions
To secure your place, the safari fee must be paid in full in advance. If you cancel more than 21 days before departure, we will refund 50%. Cancellations made less than 21 days before departure are non-refundable. You can pay in cash in Hurghada or by bank transfer to our USD or EUR accounts, and we are happy to discuss other money transfer options on an individual basis.
